Finance and Administration Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Finance and Administration at Florida State University is to deliver myriad support services to the entire University community in order to facilitate the accomplishment of the University's primary mission of achieving undergraduate and graduate teaching excellence; conducting superior basic and applied research; and providing exemplary public service. Succinctly stated, the Division's mission is derived from, and driven by, the University's mission.

In order for the University's primary mission to be accomplished, students, faculty and staff -- the Division's "customer base" -- must work in an adequate, dependable and supportive environment. Through high-quality services provided by the Division in the most responsible, efficient and cost-effective manner, the 35,000-plus individuals comprising the University community shall be able to achieve their own goals and objectives in an atmosphere free of undue restraints, inefficiencies and/or service gaps.

Moreover, the Division of Finance and Administration shall take a strong proactive stance towards the accomplishment of its mission. The Division's employees shall never act as passive "chameleons" by simply reacting to those external exigencies that require some sort of action. On the contrary, the employees of the Division shall be expected to act as change agents within the University by forecasting and initiating those changes that will result in the improvement of existing services or in the provision of new ones.
